From Kathmandu we fly to Pokhara and meet our sherpa crew at the airport. A clear day will give us tantalizing view of the shapely peak, the machapuchare-naturally sculptured into a fish tail. From here we drive to Suikhet through fields and villages. The trek starts from here introducing us to a colorful kaleidoscope of people. Though it keeps the mountains at a distant, vast terraced hillsides, villages with seldom visited people offers an excursion for learning. We move on to Ghandrung which is a tightly knit village with slate roofed houses and narrow alleys. Over the forest ridge from here, the Machapuchare is seen complemented by outstanding views of Annapurna South. The trail goes through picturesque mountain lakes and ridges across fields of wildflowers on to Ghorepani. From the Ghorepani Pass also known as the Deurali, excellent views of the Machapuchare and of the distant Indian Plains to the south are seen. We end the trek at Nayapool from where we drive back to Pokhara.
