The trek, at a relatively low elevation, makes a circuit of the Helambu region by making a loop around Melamchi Khola through the villages of Shermathang and Tarkegyang. The region is an assortment of Tamang & Sherpa villages distributed over a wide area roughly associated by a series of mountains lying between the Jugal Himal in the east and Gosaikunda to its south west.
Right from Nagarkot itself a classic panorama of Langtang Himal to Gaurishankar is seen. From Kutumsang the trail ascends through a pass to a ridge to Gul Bhanjyang, a delightful Tamang village. The peaks of Langtang Himal are often visible from the misty ridges and fertile valleys which once were hidden and a scared domain. The upper Helambu is remote and beautiful with rhododendrons and the waters of Sun Koshi mingling together with tumbling wild falls.
