Kathmandu Mountain Trek Introduction to Adventure

You needn’t travel far beyond Kathmandu to discover the leisurely charm of Nepalese village life and to admire the sweeping Himalayan views. This short moderate altitude trek is ideal for more reserved explorers, families with children, or anyone with limited time. A camp in the forests on the Kathmandu Valley rim offers superb views of both snowcapped peaks and city lights. Dropping down the opposite side of the Valley, you trek through hillside terraces and thatched-roof settlements, sampling the serenity of rural Nepal. Then a short drive to the Sun Kosi River puts you in a place for an exhilarating day of rafting, with two nights camping by the riverside. There’s plenty of time left to explore the mysteries of old Kathmandu, as well as shop in its colorful bazaars.
